Ronald James “Ron” McDonnell, 73

Ronald James ‘Ron” McDonnell of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his residence.

He was born January 15, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late James and Alice McDonnell; he moved to Lake Wales 16 years ago. Ron was a retired Sargeant with the Philadelphia Police Department and a professional photographer. He served with the United States Navy as a Chief before retiring after 22 years. Ron was an avid golfer whose game record included five hole in ones and had a bowling record that included a perfect game of 300. He also enjoyed playing cards. Ron was a Disney enthusiast and volunteered for Disney’s special functions. He could often be found cooking for his family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth A. “Betty” McDonnell; daughter, Megan McBride and husband John of Perkasie, Pennsylvania; sons, Patrick McDonnell and wife Colleen of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Michael McDonnell and wife Theresa of Montclair, New Jersey; brothers, William McDonnell of Collegeville, Pennsylvania and James McDonnell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and grandchildren Devin, Sammi, Kerri, Kaitlyn, Cayden, Logan, Mason and Liam.
