Robert Wayne Welch, Sr. of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at AdventHealth Lake Wales.

Wayne was born August 21, 1937 in Clayton, Alabama; he moved to Lake Wales from Lakeland five years ago. He was a retired security officer for Allied Security. Wayne never met a stranger, he always enjoyed talking with people and visiting oyster beaches. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Wayne was proceeded in death by his son, Robert Wayne Welch, Jr.; grandchild, Jessi Welch; and greatgrandchildren, Hiedi and Zoe. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sarah Claudine Welch; daughters, Sharon Lott and fiancé Frank Kleistch of Lakeland, and Denise Walker and husband Larry of San Antonio, Texas; sons, Steven Welch of Lake Wales, and Michael Welch and wife Jessica of Panama; sister, Sandra Fay Currant and husband Norman of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Lowell Langford of Amarillo, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren.
