Robert E. Smith

Robert E. Smith of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Hospice facility in Auburndale.

Robert was born October 4, 1923 in Sabina, OH to the late Earl and Pauline (Hodge) Smith; and came to Lake Wales from Springfield, OH in 1988. He retired as a tax manager for the City of Springfield, OH, and was a member of South Lake Wales Church of God. He is a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces, and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Robert was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Bernard. Survivors include his wife, Martha C. Smith; daughter, Melodie Bernhard of Greenville, OH; son, Craig Smith of Boulder, CO; five grandchildren, Carrie Bernhard Banks, Matt Banks, Michael Bernhard, Adam Smith, and Matthew Smith.

Memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the South Lake Wales Church of God. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the South Lake Wales Church of God Building Fund (210 Presidents Drive, Lake Wales, FL 33859).
