Robert L. "Bob" Sawyer

Robert L. "Bob" Sawyer of Lake Wales passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Winter Haven Hospital.

He was born November 10, 1922 in Knoxville, GA to the late Leroy & Florra Sawyer; he came here from Pampano Beach, FL in 1960. He opened the Belk Lindsey store in 1960 and managed it until his retirement in 1985 after being with Belk Lindswy Corp. for 44 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force, enjoyed fishing and was also a member of the V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Sawyer; cousins, Dottie Hester (Jimmy) of Fort Valley, GA, Joe Mathews (Nancy) of Lizella, GA, Christy Cochran (Jim) of Lizella, GA, Maria McConnell (Rob) of Atlanta, GA and Cory Sawyer, Sr. (Caryn).

Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, October 04, 2010 at the First Assembly of God in Lake Wales with Rev. Walter Nelson officiating.
