Robert “Bob” Robinson of Lake Wales passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Lake Wales Medical Center after a long battle with heart disease.He was born April 8, 1942 in Lake Wales to the late George Anderson & Lou Willie Robinson; and he was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Lake Wales High School in 1960 and was in the inaugural call of USF in 1960. Bob initially pursued a career as a measurement engineer with Florida Gas Company before returning to his roots as a 3rd generation citrus grower which was his occupation until his death. Mr. Robinson met his wife of 50 years, Barbara Elaine Cottle, in high school and dated for four years before they were married on July 11, 1963. He loved flying, was an avid gun collector and shooter, hunted all over the world and was a student of American history.Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Glenn Robinson. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara E. Robinson; daughter, Joley Robinson Lowd (Michael Robert) of Lake Wales; son, Robert Keith Robinson (Lisa Carlton) of Sarasota; sister, Charlotte Ann Oie of Madison, MN; and five grandchildren, Carlton Elaine Robinson, Mabry Robert Robinson, Savell Louise Robinson, Zachary Anderson Robinson and Zander Doc Lackey.Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home and the funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. David George & Dr. Scott Markley officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
