Robert Richard Kirk

May 18, 1943 — February 20, 2026

Lake Wales, Florida

Robert Richard “Bob” Kirk, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 82 in HCA Hospital Osceola, Kissimmee. Born on May 18, 1943, in Coventry, Rhode Island.

Bob proudly served in the United States Marines before becoming a dedicated entrepreneur. He was the retired owner and operator of Kirks Country Store, where he was known for his resourcefulness and caring nature, often likened to having a MacGyver brain due to his ability to fix anything.

Bob was a man of deep faith, holding strong to his Catholic beliefs throughout his life. His interests extended beyond his business; he loved being on the water, enjoying lake boating and spending time at the beach. He was also an avid collector of guns and various other items. A true New England sports fan, Bob cheered passionately for the New England Patriots and the Red Sox.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kirk and Eileen Burkett. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Jean Kirk, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children: Robin Bessenaire of Lake Wales and Dean Kirk of Lake Wales. Robert celebrated the joy of being a grandfather to Heather, Holly, Brian, and Dominick, and he was a proud great-grandfather to Calvin.

A memorial service will be held at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales at a later date. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.marionnelsonfuneralhom.com.
