Robert Grove Campbell, known affectionately as Bob, passed away on July 4, 2026, at the Vitas Inpatient Unit at AdventHealth Lake Wales. Born on July 1, 1937, in Wheeling, West Virginia, he lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep appreciation for both his country and those closest to him.
A man of commitment and principle, Robert answered the call to serve his nation as a member of the United States Army. His military service exemplified his strong sense of duty and patriotism. Following his time in the Army, Robert continued his connection to service by working as a technician for the United States Air Force — a role through which his technical acumen and work ethic garnered the respect of colleagues.
Outside of his professional and military endeavors, Robert cultivated a range of interests that reflected his curiosity and hands-on spirit. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and was known as a ‘shade tree mechanic,’ Robert enjoyed working on vehicles, constantly seeking to solve mechanical puzzles and lending a helping hand to those in need of repairs. A lifelong learner, he delighted in reading and often spent quiet evenings watching the history and education channels, expanding his knowledge and sharing insights with family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sarah Campbell. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Willadeen Campbell; daughter, Judy Campbell and her companion Mark Velat of Littleton, Colorado; son, Alan R. Campbell and his wife Penny of Gahanna, Ohio; and sister, Molly Evans of Cadiz, Ohio.
No services are scheduled at this time. Interment will be held at the Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.marionnelsonfuneralhome.com.
