Rita Mcgowan Davies

Rita McGowan Davies, 90, of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Hawthorne Inn in Winter Haven, Florida.

She was born June 5, 1923 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late John J. and Irene J. (Dean) McGowan and has been a resident of the area since 1969 moving here from Warsaw, New York. She was a retired security guard for Lake Wales Hospital. Rita loved to play golf, fish and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.

Survivors include her daughters, Kim VanHook and husband Keith of Lake Wales, Maureen B. DeGolyer and husband Willard of Castile, New York; son, Darrell M. Davies of Lake Wales; 9 grandchildren, Blake D. VanHook and wife Sara, Allison Kapphan and husband Zach, Kent D. VanHook and wife Jenna and Mason VanHook , Meghan Hauser and husband Rick, Molly Garrett and husband Pat, Aimee DeGolyer and husband Ben Horwath , Avery DeGolyer and wife Kristina Curtis, Joseph DeGolyer and 11 great grandchildren.

Gathering of family and friends will be held 6:00 pm Friday, April 11, 2014 at Kim VanHook's home.
