Richard B. Van Deusen

Richard B. Van Deusen of Frostproof, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at his home surrounded by family. He was 77 years old.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on December 10th, 1931, his family relocated shortly afterward to Union, New Jersey. He proudly joined the Army and served in the Korean War as a lineman where he restored telecommunication access. In 1959, he married his love Joann and moved to Hollywood, Florida where they lived happily for 30 years. Employed in various positions for many years with Florida Power and Light Company, he retired as an investigator. Richard thoroughly enjoyed his retirement in Frostproof for the last 20 years, building his dream home, sitting on his front porch watching everyone else go to work, and enjoying his wood working and family.

Richard leaves behind a family and a countless number of friends to cherish the simple life he led. He is survived by his wife Joann of 50 years, son John Van Deusen, daughters Missy Maxwell and Gail Gorman, 6 grand children and 2 great grand children.

Richard’s family will be receiving friends and celebrating his life in a memorial ceremony on Sunday, August 30th, 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Frostproof.
