Richard D. “Rich” Bruno, 75

Richard D. “Rich” Bruno passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at his home in the company of his daughter Lori Bruno.

He was born October 18, 1945 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Anthony and Jane Bruno. He lived the majority of his life in Waterbury. Richard served as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War and earned a Purple Heart during his service. He was a member of the VFW and DAV in both Waterbury CT. and St. Petersburg, Florida. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 32 years. While in Connecticut, he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish where he attended church services as well as called Bingo. Richard was an avid cook and baker, taking great joy in sharing his creations with family and friends.

Richard moved to Lake Wales, Florida in 2007 where he attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was an active member of the Tower Lakes Community, calling Bingo and helping to organize social events and holiday celebrations. Richard enjoyed people, in particular his family. He is predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Rosalie; his son Richard; and his brother, Fred. He is survived by his daughter, Lori Bruno of Mebane, North Carolina and her partner Kelly; brother, Anthony Bruno of Waterbury, Connecticut; daughter-in-law, Diana Martone; and grandson, Richard Bruno, Jr. Additionally Richard is survived by Lawrence T. and June Johnston; brother and sister-in-law; and nephews and nieces along with many friends in both Connecticut and Florida.

Services will be held by a later date to be determined by his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to the DAV in Waterbury, Connecticut (P.O. Box 206, 103 Green Street, Waterbury, CT 06720).
