Richard A. Respress, 68

Richard A. Respress of Frostproof passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Advent Health Sebring.

He was born October 16, 1952 in Frostproof. Richard joined the United States Navy in the 70’s, then reenlisted a second time and signed up for the reserves in the 90’s. He graduated from the Police Academy at South Florida States College in 1980. He served as a police officer in Frostproof and at Homerville Police Department in Clinch County, Georgia. Richard also worked as a grove worker for a short time. He was a forest ranger in Jupiter, Florida and retired as a corrections officer at Avon Park Correctional Institution.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Jesse Respress. He is survived by his daughter, Caroline (Paul) Hudson of Sebring; son, R. Alan Respress, II, of Frostproof; sister, Rhonda (Frank) Garcia of Frostproof; brothers, Ernest (Lynn) Respress of Frostproof, and Grady (Donna) Respress of Frostproof; and grandchildren, Garrett, Conner, and Abby Smith all of Avon Park.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery in Frostproof.
