Richard Thomas Campus

Richard T. “Dick” Campus, 89 of Winter Haven, Florida passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 31, 1928 in Peabody, Massachusetts to the late Manuel T. and Isabella (Salome) Campus and became a resident of this area in 1991 moving here from Duxbury, Massachusetts. He was a retired Manager for General Motors and was an automotive teacher for many years. Richard was a life member of the Amity Mosaic Masonic Lodge in Danvers, MA. He was a former Assistant Harbour Master in Duxbury, MA., He enjoyed traveling and boating and was an avid NASCAR Fan and Patriots Fan. Richard served in the US Army. He was an advocate and contributor for the creation of Maine’s recently recognized Katahdin Woods and Water National Park.

He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years Betty Campus.

Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Browne of Hull, MA, Bonnie Conn (Joe) of St. Johns, FL, Sandra Fecteau (Tom) of Peabody, MA, Donna Williams (Allan) of Winter Haven, FL; brother, Ronald Campus of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Joyce Riley of Peabody, MA, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church in Winter Haven. Interment will be held at the Florida National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
