Richard C. "Dick" Bowles

Richard C. "Dick" Bowles of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

He was born January 21, 1928 in Hanover, NH to the late Nelson Clayton & Helen Bowles; he has been a winter resident for 13 years coming from Montpelier, VT. He was a retired fiscal officer for the State of Vermont, attended the First United Methodist Church in Frostproof and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He enjoyed golfing, music and was active in the choir. He also enjoyed watching football on TV and his grandchildren playing sports.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Phyllis P. Bowles; daughters, Linda Parker (James) of Howie in the Hills, FL. Patricia Aja of Avon Park, Judith Ribolini (Lynn) of Montpelier, VT, Kathleen Cowens (Putt) of Montpelier, VT and Amy Papineau (Gerald) of Montpelier, VT; sister, Joyce Pierson of Bradford, VT; brother, Franklin Bowles of Barre, VT; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services are to be scheduled in Vermont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 150 Devane Street, Frostproof, FL 33843.
