Rhoda E. Bennett of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Winter Haven Hospital.

She was born September 10, 1948 in Morgantown, Kentucky to the late Hobert and Virginia Evans; she has been a lifelong resident of Lake Wales. Rhoda was a retired telephone operator for GTE. She loved crocheting, sewing, gardening, and fishing.

Rhoda was preceded in death by her brother, William Wade Evans. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Carl Bennett, Jr.; daughter, Rhoda “Dee Dee” Alderman and husband Christopher of Lake Wales; son, James Carl “James” Bennett, III of Lake Wales; sisters, Twanda Arnett of Auburndale, Linda Palmer of Auburndale, Dean Morgan of Logansville, Kentucky, and Rita Johnson and husband Larry of Morgantown, Kentucky; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Mr. Jeff Whitman officiating. Interment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery.
