July 12, 1928 — December 11, 2005

Reliford Nobles, 77, Kovac Brothers

FROSTPROOF -- Mr. Reliford "Bud" Nobles of Frostproof, who enjoyed playing guitar at church, died of heart failure Sunday (Dec. 11, 2005). He was 77.

Born July 12, 1928, in Blakely, Ga., Mr. Reliford moved to Frostproof from there in 1948.

Mr. Nobles' daughter, Lynette Devane of Frostproof, described her father as a best friend. Together, the two enjoyed running weekly errands.

"We'd go to the doctor, get pizza," Devane said. "He loved pepperoni."

A guitarist for 45 years, Mr. Nobles' interest in the instrument began with a desire to play in the church band, his daughter said.

"He got into singing and wanted to learn guitar," she said.

Attending church was one of Mr. Nobles' favorite activities.

He attended Pentecostal Holiness Church in Avon Park.

"He was a simple, satisfied man," his daughter said.

Mr. Nobles worked as a heavy equipment operator for Kovac Brothers.

Mr. Nobles is survived by his wife, Beatrice Nobles; daughters, Lynette Devane and Debbie Nobles, both of Frostproof; sons, James Nobles, Palm Bay, Dureel Nobles, White Springs, Michael Nobles, Brandon; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Frostproof. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
