R.C. Downing

R.C. Downing, 81 of Frostproof, FL and formerly of Roxana, IL passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Lake Wales Medical Center in Lake Wales, FL.

He was born on September 2, 1933 in Armorel, Arkansas to the late Rufus and Bessie (Mangrum) Downing and has been a resident of this area since 2003 moving here from Roxana, IL. He was a maintenance foreman for Laclede Steel for 34 years. R.C. served in the US Army and was a member of the Family Life Church of Frostproof.

R.C. was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Downing of Qulin, MO. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Mary Irene Downing; daughters, Debra Riley of Frostproof, Beverly Patterson of Hemet, Ca.; son, Danny R. Downing of Frostproof; brothers, Charles Downing of Roxana, IL, Berneal Downing of Woodriver, IL, Carroll Downing of Frostproof; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held 2PM, Wednesday, July 8th at Family Life Church, 139 Bulldog Way, Frostproof, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family would like any monetary donations to be sent Family Life Church for the Youth Building Fund.
