Raymond E. Sherrer of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the Winter Haven Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born November 2, 1920 in Coffee County, AL to the late Thomas & Maggie (Kyser) Sherrer; and came to Polk County from Alabama in 1947. He was a retired mechanic/welder for Citrus World/Florida's Natural and a member of the Westside Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and vegetable gardening.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Sherrer, daughter, Velma Mates, parents, 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Survivors include his daughters, Vera Sherrer of Lake Wales and Earline McDonald (Mike) of Babson Park; brothers, Cleo Sherrer of Elba, AL and Edgar Sherrer of Pavo, GA; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Goodwin (Gary), Nancy Barber (Greg), Carol Wolff, Martha McDonald & Cathy McDonald; and 5 great-grandchildren, Ryan Barber, Julia Wolff, Jared Wolff, Joshua Barber and Olivia Barber.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 9, 2011 and the funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. J.R. Thomas and Rev. Stephen Bolden officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
