Raymond R. Halbert

Raymond R. Halbert of Frostproof passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born April 24, 1914 in Higgins, Texas to the late Leroy Taylor & Sara Frances Halbert; he came here 21 years ago from Lake of the Ozarks, MO. He was the retired director of maintenance and construction for the University of Missouri and a member of the First Baptist Church of Frostproof, where he served as a deacon of the church and sang in the choir. He enjoyed traveling and was a former wagon master for the Winnebago Club. He was also a volunteer tax consultant for seniors thru A.A.R.P.

Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Ray Halbert and two sisters, Beulah and Lula. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Thelma Halbert; son, Buddie J. Halbert (wife-Relda) of Tallahassee, FL; brother, Donald D. "Don" Halbert of Columbia, MO; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Interment will be held in Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 96 West "B" Street, Frostproof, Florida 33843.
