LAKE WALES -- Mr. Raymond D. "Ray" Ames of Lake Wales died of heart failure Thursday (Oct. 6, 2005) at Life Care Center of Winter Haven. He was 81.

Born Feb. 11, 1924, in Post Boy, Ohio, Mr. Ames came here from Columbus, Ohio, in 1986. He served in the Army in World War II. He worked as a truck driver for Roadway Express. He was a member of the NRA, Teamsters Union and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2901. He attended First Baptist Church.

Mr. Ames is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Ames; daughters, Debora Ames, Oxnard, Calif., Marie Moorehead, Milford, Conn., Deborah Morse, Senecaville, Ohio; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales. Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the church.

Donations may be made to the Heart Association or the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
