Ray “Poncho” Blackburn of Frostproof, Florida passed away Monday, June 17, 2019 at Lake Wales Hospital, Lake Wales, Florida.
He was born March 29, 1942 in Granite City, Illinois, to Virgil and Betty (Burns) Blackburn and he has been a resident of this area for 22 years, coming from Illinois. He was a Tool & Dye maker with Ford Motor Company, loved riding motorcycles, fishing, golfing, tennis, jogging and camping. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Frostproof, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Carol Blackburn; daughters, Connie Robinson of Georgetown, SC, Stephanie Bock and her husband John of San Antonio, TX; step sons Eric Alvis of Alvin, TX, Carl Alvis and his wife Kathryn of Aurora, IL, 3 grandchildren Matthew Robinson, Melissa Johnson, Keith Bock, 2 step grandchildren Keegan Alvis, Miranda Alvis and 4 great-grandchildren Sam, Cierrah, Jayda and Alex.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 11:00 am until 1 pm at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof, FL. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof, FL, on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Hood officiating.
