Ray Martin

November 15, 1943 — March 30, 2010

W. Ray Martin of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

He was born November 15, 1934 in Red Level, AL; he came to the area in the 1940's from Alabama. He was a retired citrus groves supervisor for Haines City Citrus Growers, but also worked for Alcoma and Highland Park, and was a veteran, serving in the National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, camping and family times.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Martin; daughter, Debi Summerlin (Pete) of Frostproof; step-daughters, Jacqueline Boyd (Steve) of Branford, Kathy Luecke of Winter Haven and Toni Durbin (Dennis) of Lake Wales; son, Rick Martin (Paula) of Lake Wales; step-son, Tim Zeigler of Ocala; sisters, Kathy Tucker of Daytona, Lesse White of Melbourne, Jo Ellen of Orlando and Marty Pateh of Lake Wales; brothers, Larry Martin of Melbourne, Robert Martin of Alabama and John Martin of California; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was be held from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 02, 2010 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Boyd officiating.
