Ray Brooks

Ray Brooks of Waverly passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at his residence.

He was born January 24, 1929 in Donaldsonville, Georgia to the late John M. and Cindy L. (Clark) Brooks; he has been a resident of Waverly for 35 years moving to the area from Lake Alfred. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Church of Christ in Dundee.  Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Ailene Brooks; son, Chuck Brooks; and sister, Millie Wimberley.

Survivors include his daughters, Barbara (Earnest) Jewell of Winter Haven, Carolyn (Kenneth) Jewell of Lakeland, Tresa Choate of Waverly and Mary "Penny" Brooks of Lake Wales; sons, Ricky (Angie) Brooks of Wauchula and John (Jennifer) Brooks of Waverly; sister, Mary Miller of Lake Alfred; 22 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and the funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Anthiel "Butch" Maynard officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
