Ray Abel of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at AdventHealth Lake Wales under the care of Vitas Hospice.
He was born March 29, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Marion Abel; he moved to Lake Wales from West Palm Beach in 1969. Ray was retired from the State of Florida and was a veteran of the United States Navy who served in World War II. He was a member of Indian Lake Estates Baptist Church and loved to play golf.
Ray was proceeded in death by his first wife, Thelma Abel in 1991; and brothers, Robert Abel, and Ronald Abel. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Abel; daughters, Deborah Stokes of Davenport, Kimberly Parsons of Champaign, Illinois, and Susan Barenberg of Kansas, Oklahoma; son, Thomas Zelenka of Lake Wales; sister, Doris Vancho of Browns Mills, New Jersey; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
