Ralph Blackmon, Jr.

Lake Wales – Ralph Blackmon Jr. 76, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Lake Wales Medical Center due to heart failure.

Born August 13, 1931 in Daleville County, Alabama, He had been a resident of Lake Wales since 1952. He retired after 47 years as a refrigeration supervisor from Citrus World in 1997. He restarted his career at W. G. Roe and Sons in Winter Haven and retired from there at the end of May in 2008. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake Wales, and was a member of R.E.T.A and RSES.

Ralph was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Blackmon Sr., his mother, Belva Blackmon and his brother Roy Blackmon Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 50 plus years, Jeanette Blackmon of Lake Wales; his son and daughter-in-law, David & Rene Blackmon and his granddaughter Victoria of Avon Park. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with services being held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Rev. Sean Carr and Rev. Keith Thompson will be officiating.

Interment will take place at the Lake Wales Cemetery following the service. Contributions may be made to The Shriners Hospital.
