Rae Friedlander Wolfson

Rae Friedlander Wolfson of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Winter Haven Hospital

She was born July 19, 1918 in Doerun, GA to the late Harry & Celia (Nankin) Friedlander; and came to Lake Wales in 1923 from Albany, GA. With her parents and husband she was owner/operator of Friedlander's Department Store in Lake Wales and attended Temple Emanuel in Lakeland. She was very active in many civic groups throughout Lake Wales over the years, including the Lake Wales Woman's Club, of which she was the oldest living member at the time of her death.

Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wolfson, and her sister, Evelyn Rudner. Survivors include two daughters, Ellen W. Smith of Gainesville, FL and Nancy W. Ross of Atlanta, GA; one son, Steven L. Wolfson of Lake Wales; one brother, Edwin Friedlander of Lake Wales; five grandchildren, Andrew Wolfson, Sarah Parks, Adam Ross, Aaron Ross and Todd Smith; and one great-grandchild, Morgan Parks.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:30 AM, Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lakeland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lake Wales Woman's Club Restoration Fund or the Lake Wales Library Association.
