FROSTPROOF--R. Herman Futral of Frostproof died of heart failure Friday, January 12, 2007 at his residence. He was 98.

Born August 08, 1908 in Ludowici, GA; he came to Frostproof from Fort Myers in 1933. He was the owner/operator of Futral’s Foodway in Frostproof. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Frostproof. He was a member for 65 years at the Masonic Lodge of Frostproof, the past treasurer and a member for 21 years at the Frostproof Rotary Club. He an elder emeritus to the Presbyterian church and a founding member of the Affiliated Grocers of Florida.

Mr. Futral was preceded in death by his parents James and Ora Futral; daughter, Donna Futral in 1980; and his wife, Mildred B. Futral in 2004. Survivors include his daughters, Robley Futral of Frostproof; Ferne Mann of Lake City; sons, James H. Futral of Frostproof; Jeff Futral of Frostproof; brother, George Futral of Fort Myers; sisters, Evelyn Futral of Orlando; Annette Daniels of Fort Myers; Mary Harvey of Fort Myers; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof with Rev. David Trimmier officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box 126, Frostproof, Florida 33843.
