Preston K. Pickles peacefully entered into heaven on June 24, 2013 at the Lake Wales Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was a lifelong resident of Lake Wales and a highly respected member of the community. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990 and was a veteran of World War II, where he served his country in the United State Navy. Preston was a deacon of First Christian Church of Lake Wales and a member of the Masonic Lodge #242 for 55 years, where he achieved the honor of 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Ethel Pickles; his daughter, Karen Pickles of Lake Wales; sons, Colin Pickles of Lake Wales and Keith Pickles (Louise) of Salt Springs, FL; a sister, Joann Roth of Thonotosassa, FL; one step-grandchild and three step-great-grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 am until the service at 11:00 am Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that any memorial donations be made to Lake Aurora Christian Camp (237 Golden Bough Road, Lake Wales, FL 33898) or Christ’s Church on the Move.
