Peggy Capps Smith

Peggy Capps Smith of Lake Wales passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

She was born October 28, 1925 in Biltmore, NC to the late George and Theresa Capps; she was a lifelong resident of the area. She retired from the Lake Wales News, working as a receptionist and in the circulation department. She also previously worked in the IT Department at Florida Citrus Canners; as well as Sherman’s Firestone and Mountain Lake Corporation.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, George “Skeet” Smith and survived by her sister, Theresa McCollough of Lake Wales.

Private burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Memorial celebration of life service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Dr. Scott Markley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First Baptist Church, Building Fund (338 East Central Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853) or Gideons International.
