Paul Wood, Jr.

Part Owner and General Sales Manager, Wells Motor Company

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, Paul Wood, Jr. of Babson Park, FL was called home to be with his Lord and Savior after complications from Covid-19.  This world has lost a great husband, dad, son, papa, brother and friend.

He was born July 29, 1963 in Malden, Massachusetts to Paul Wood, Sr. and Honey Varney.  He was the general sales manager for Wells Motor Company and Huston Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Avon Park, FL.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul Wood, Sr. and brother, Fred Wood.

Many of the Babson Park area locals may remember Paul Wood as a “self-made man” relocating to Florida from Massachusetts in the late 70’s. As a teenager, Paul ventured into the food service industry [Babson Park Restaurant, Al’s Place, The Renaissance and Collins Family Restaurant] while simultaneously meeting his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Collins Wood. They began a lifelong marriage of 39 years, with Paul always dedicated to being a devoted father and husband and providing for his family, giving them the life he thought they deserved.  Paul often shared how his family meant more to him than anything else in the world.

After a successful bout in the restaurant business, Paul was recruited into the automotive sales business.  As a highly regarded salesman or sales manager wherever he was employed, Paul created fond memories and formed trustworthy relationships throughout the local area dealerships.

Paul had a huge, loving personality and a heartfelt smile that will be remembered by all who were blessed to know him. His spirit was indescribable and would light up a room the moment he walked in. Paul enjoyed spending time with family, particularly his two grandchildren, watching baseball and hockey and singing along to worship music.

Paul’s faith in Jesus Christ was evident in the way he lived life. His relationship with the Lord flourished daily, and he did not hesitate to live his faith out loud. He was a member of HighPoint Church Lake Wales where he found great reward in serving with their greeting team. Sitting near Paul during worship was an added delight for many as his strong voice was unstoppable.

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Bonnie Wood; daughters, Tracy Snell (Chris) of Lake Wales, FL and Krystal Hunter (Brett) of Winter Garden, FL; two very adored grandchildren, Paisley and Hunter; mother, Honey Varney of Winter Haven, FL; sisters, Tammy Simpson (Tom) of Winter Haven, FL and Tiffany Wood of Mendon, MA; brother, Corey Wood (Donna) of Malden, MA and many other relatives who will miss Paul beyond words.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the medical team of AdventHealth Sebring.

A Private Graveside Service is being held and

A Celebration of Life will be held for both family and friends at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the new building fund for HighPoint Church (1417 Resmondo Dr., Lake Wales, FL 33853) and/or Winter Haven Worship Center, Dream Again Building Fund (PO Box 2940, Winter Haven, FL 33883).
