Paul Michael Smerdell, 65

Paul Michael Smerdell of Lake Wales passed away Monday, October 4, 2021 at Highland Regional Medical Center.

He was born October 21, 1955 in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Joseph and Jean Smerdell. Paul was a retired coal miner for the states of West Virginia and Pennsylvania and was a member of Christ Church on the Move and Blacksville Methodist Church in West Virginia. He was a member of the NRA and the Christian Sportsman Club and was an avid outdoorsman. Paul was an excellent handy man and was great at bringing people together. He was a Godly man who loved his family and the Lord.

Paul was preceded in death by his half-brother. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sonya Smerdell; daughters, Christina Rice (Jason) of Enterprise, West Virginia, Charity Willard (Chris) of Wadestown, West Virginia, and Sarah Smerdell of Blacksville, West Virginia; siblings, Charles Pysh (Karen) of Germantown, Maryland, Douglas Smerdell (Tanya) of Daybrook, West Virginia, and Sandy Aller (John) of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; half-sister, Tootie Gashie; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church on the Move at a later date.
