Owen Lloyd Campbell, 79

Owen Lloyd Campbell of Lake Wales passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at his home.

He was born November 14, 1942 in Saint Mary, Jamaica to the late Lascelles and Viola Watson; he moved to Lake Wales from Miami over 17 years ago. Owen was a retired Import and Export clerk for FAG Company. He attended Bromley Primary School in Saint Mary, Jamaica, then he passed his 1st, 2nd and 3rd local Jamaican exams and went on to attend Mico Teacher’s College in Kingstown, Jamaica and graduated in 1968. Owen taught school until he migrated to the USA in 1972. He was an active member of HighPoint Church working with the teenagers, always giving the kids fist bumps, serving as a greeter, and serving on the elder board for seven years. He loved to read, play dominos (where he was given the name “Teacher” by a close friend named Sam) and cricket, and walking. Owen was president of his HOA community and stayed active in the community. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was a devoted Christian.

Owen is proceeded in death by his sister. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cynthia Campbell; step mother, Merl Campbell; sons, Richard Campbell and wife Sorayda of Dacula, Georgia, and Robert Campbell and wife Jamila of Port Saint Lucie; sisters, Angela Campbell, Jacqueline Campbell, Winsome Campbell, Yvonne Campbell, and Pamela Campbell; brothers, Walter Campbell, and Paul Campbell; grandchildren, Simona, Brittany, Ramia, Jasmine, Josiah, Taylor, and Kendall; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022 at High Point Church in Lake Wales (4025 N Scenic Highway, Lake Wales, Florida 33853) with Pastor Jack Hilligoss officiating.
