Nova Jean Herndon of Dover, FL passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at her residence.
She was born July 11, 1928 in Clanton, AL to the late Fonza Elijah & Ettie Vera Jones; and she moved from Frostproof to Dover 42 years ago. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Clair Mel First Assembly of God Church in Tampa. She graduated from Frostproof High School and played on the championship basketball team. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, was an avid lover of sports and will be sorely missed by her family.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John A. Herndon; daughters, Donna Respress and husband, Grady of Frostproof, Gail Raburn and husband, John of Plant City and Jan Stallings and husband, Gary of Plant City; son, John Allen Herndon II and companion, Elaina Martin of Plant City; sisters, Francis Lanier of Sebring and Peggy Bagwell of Frostproof; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the funeral service at 11:30 am Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Clair Mel First Assembly of God Church in Tampa with Rev. John Raburn and Pastor Kelly Galati officiating. Interment will be held at the Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.
