WAVERLY--Norman Lewis Stanland, 81 of Waverly died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Good Shepherd hospice in Auburndale.
Born January 22, 1926 in Waverly, Florida and has been a lifelong resident. He was a Retired Bookkeeper for Waverly Growers for 40 years, A member of the First Baptist Church of Waverly, a Veteran of WWII Serving in the US Navy, served in Iwo Jima and watched the first flag to go up, He was a member of the VFW and American Legion He loved to play golf, watch Nascar and the Bucs.
Survivors include: Wife: Dorothy L. Stanland of 43 years
Daughter: Norma Stanland Kessler of Plano, Texas,
Son: Mickey Stanland of Waverly
Step Daughter: Linda Myers
Step Sons: James C. Crawford of Auburndale
Sisters: Barbara Albritton of Lake Wales, June Howard of Jacksonville,
Mary Lou Grissom of Sharpsburg, Georgia, 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Albritton officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 6 from 6-8 PM.
Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery with Full Military Honors
