Nona Bird Acreman

Nona Bird Acreman, 83 of Lake Wales passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at Life Care Center of Winter Haven.

She was born February 12, 1931 in Metter, Georgia to the late Lonnie and Ruth Arline (Payne) Bird and she has been a resident of the area for 60 years coming here from Georgia. She was a retired nurse for Dr. Aquino. Nona was a member of the Westside Baptist Church of Lake Wales, she was very involved with her church and a huge supporter of the Samaritan’s purse that brought Christmas boxes to children all over the world. She worked all year putting these shoe box Christmas gifts together for those less fortunate little children.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merle W. Williams in 1959, second husband, Darvie W. Acreman in 2004.

She is survived by her Daughter , Eleanor Williams Smith and husband Steve of Simpsonville, SC; step daughter, Kay Noles and husband Lynn of Winter Haven; son, Robert Merle Williams and wife Gail of Lake Wales; Ralph Edward Williams and wife Sara of Lake Wales; step sons, Darrell Acreman and wife Pam of Winter Haven, Mike Acreman and wife Susie of Winter Haven; 4 grandchildren, RJ Williams of Lake Wales, Michelle Williams Mendez of Lake Wales, Stephanie Smith Alley of Pauline, SC, Kim Smith Bell of Piedmont, SC; 4 Great Grandchildren, Steven, Brent, Ryan and Elijah; sister, Edna Bird Kirkpatric of Hendersonville, NC.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Mims officiating. Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 until service time.
