Nelma McClendon of Apopka passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at her residence.
She was born August 21, 1920 in Opp, AL to the late Forman J. & Lona H. Tomberlin; she lived in Frostproof since 1945 and moved to Apopka 7 years ago. She was a homemaker; and when she was a resident of Frostproof, she was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she held various positions. After moving to Apopka, she attended the Northside Baptist Church.
Nelma was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. "Bill" McClendon in 2002, a sister, Bernice DuRant and a brother, William P. Tomberlin. Survivors include her daughter, Helen A. & Don Yates of Apopka; sons, James A. & Patty McClendon of Frostproof and John W. & Becky McClendon of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters, Inez Locke of Maitland and Ann Ray of Decatur, AL; sister-in-law, Mary Tomberlin of Montgomery, AL; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 5, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof with John McClendon and Don Yates officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church (96 'B' Street, Frostproof, FL 33843) or Northside Baptist Church (413 West Welch Road, Apopka, FL 32712).
