Nell Jewel Melton

Nell Jewel Melton of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

She was born November 25, 1934 in Lake Wales to the late Curtis & Mattie Ammons; she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a retired manager at Howard Johnson Restaurant and was of the Baptist faith. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother and caretaker to her husband.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband, W.B. Melton one year ago.

Survivors include her daughter, Miki Amerson (Jody) of Lakeland; sons, Don Spann of Lakeland, Ron Spann (Bobbi) of Lakeland, Jimmie Melton (Becky) of Lake Mary and Doug Melton (Pamela) of Lakeland; sisters, Sara Steger (Richard) of Winter Haven, Lula Mae Haines of Lake Wales, Selma Carruth of Bartow, Alvine Walker (Erskin) of Winter Haven, Margaret Trammell of Lake Wales, Marie Harper of St. Pete, Peggy Jones (Daniel) of Lake Wales, Winona Pitts of Bartow and Kay Herndon of Winter Haven; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Lake Wales Cemetery with Bishop Jody Amerson officiating.
