Nathan Roy Underwood of Bartow passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at his residence.
He was born October 8, 1943 in Lake Wales and he has been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a retired agriculture inspector for the State of Florida, of the Protestant faith and a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the U.S. Navy and the National Guard. He loved cars and going fast. He was an avid gun collector, enjoyed his dogs and going fishing with his dad.
Nathan was preceded in death by his mother, Appie Brantley Underwood. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Mary Alice Underwood; daughters, Carla Parriott (Dan) of Virginia and Kelly Turpin (Daniel) of Cocoa Beach; father, Nathan R. Underwood of Lake Wales; brother, Jim Underwood (Shelley) of Babson Park; two grandchildren, Bella and Austin Turpin; one niece, Jennifer and a nephew, Jimmy.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Chad Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.
