FROSTPROOF -- Mr. Nathan D. McFarland of Frostproof died of heart failure Saturday (May 13, 2006) at Florida Hospital in Sebring. He was 56.

Born Aug. 23, 1949, in Frostproof, Mr. McFarland was a lifelong resident of the Frostproof area. He was a security guard for Securitas Co. He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Linda McFarland; daughter, Leslie Lynn McFarland, Orlando; stepdaughter, Candace Farris, Frostproof; son, Richard Thomas McFarland, Orlando; stepson, Shawn Smith, Lake Wales; brother, Thurman Dean McFarland, St. Cloud, sister, Brenda Meeks, Bartow; three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
