Myrtice Yates Isom 92, 0f Frostproof passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Lake Wales Medical Center due to heart failure.
She was born August 1, 1921 in Brooks County, Georgia to the late Charles D. and Alva Yates and has been a resident of the area for 63 years. Myrtice was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She valued family, children and her friends. No matter how ill she became one of her grandchildren could put the sparkle in her eye.
Myrtice and Cecil married at a young age and were farmers in South Georgia. As their family grew she was there for everyone and she and Cecil welcomed every one that entered their home. She loved being a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She loved shopping and always returned home with something pink. She read to her children and grandchildren and was an avid reader all her life.
Myrtice was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Isom, Sr. after almost 70 years of marriage; son Cecil M. Isom, Jr.; brothers, Edward Yates and Clyde Yates; sisters, Dora Johnson, Margaret Durrance, Josephine Owen and Betty Faye Yates.
Survivors include her son, Clyde D. “Danny” Isom and wife Bev; daughters, Faye Sanders Ramon; Carolyn Blocker and husband Wayne; Joann Marshall and husband Gordon; sisters, Evelyn Fann and Lillian Tidwell; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Frostproof with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Interment will be held at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time.
