Murphy Goff of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
He was born May 8, 1926 in Turner County, GA, to the late Larkin and Bessie (Huckabee) Goff; and came to Lake Wales from Ashburn, GA at the age of 9. He was a switchroom supervisor for GTE for 34 years, a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Navy, he attended Frostproof Church of God, a member of the Lake Wales Lions Club, a Boy Scouts leader, and a Woodman of the World. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Jan Goff Meeks (Ronnie) of Frostproof; son, Ken Goff (Jane Herndon Goff) of Lake Wales; sisters, Ruby Enfinger of Pensacola, Othelle Barkey of Tavernier, Jean Letter of Reddington Beach, Latrelle Houston of Lake Wales; grandchildren, Jinny Goff Mann, Ann Goff Tomkinson, Larkin Goff Smith, Emilyn Meeks; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Ellie, Colton, Sarah, and Gwendolyn.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, March 4, 2010 and the funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, March 5, 2010 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
