MILLARD S. “JIM” MORGAN, 87

Millard S. “Jim” Morgan of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born September 1, 1920 in Mystic, GA; he came here from Stone Mountain, GA in 1979. He was retired as the South East Regional Manager of Farm Services for Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S., a member of the Smoke Rose Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy as the Lt. Cmdr/Captain of 2 ships. He was a member of the Lake Wales Country Club for 25 years, American Legion Post #71 in Lake Wales, Florida Sheriffs Association, Sudan Shriners, Shriners of North America, the William G. Hill Masonic Lodge #218 in Raleigh, NC, and the Scottish Rite.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen C. Morgan in 2003. Survivors include his son & daughter-in-law, Millard “Byron” & Phyllis Morgan of Riverdale, GA, three grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McDonough Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 352 McDonough Road, Fayetteville, GA 30214.
