Michael J. McDonald, loving husband of Earline for over fifty-three years, passed away on March 24, 2024, in Winter Haven, Florida, at the age of 77.

Born on December 6, 1946, in Wisconsin, as a child, his parents returned to Danville, Illinois, where he was educated at St. Patrick's Catholic School and Schlarman High School where he graduated from in 1965. Michael furthered his studies at Eastern Illinois University where he completed his studies in 3 years. Upon earning his degree, Mike followed his parents to Lake Wales, where they had retired to Nalcrest. Soon upon his arrival, he met the love of his life, Earline Sherrer.

Mike married Earline on June 27, 1970 and were blessed with two daughters, Martha and Catherine, and attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

He served with the Florida National Guard from 1969 to 1990, in the Lake Wales National Guard unit. In 2009, he retired from teaching Social Studies and Industrial Arts, embarking on a retirement journey alongside his beloved wife.

An accomplished woodworker, Michael's workshop was a source of envy for many. He spent hours crafting gifts for loved ones and many home improvements. He was a member of the Polk County Woodturners, where he honed his craft while making a lot of saw dust.

Michael is survived by his wife of 53 Years, Earline Sherrer McDonald (Babson Park); Daughter, Martha McDonald (Babson Park); Catherine McDonald (Babson Park); Nieces: Lisa Goodwin (Gary) of St. Petersburg, FL; Nancy Barber (Greg) of Tampa, FL; Carol Desaulniers (Debra) of St. Petersburg, FL; Nephew: Scott McDonald of Gladstone, MO; Chosen Daughter, Stephanie Carter of Olympia, WA; 3 great nephews and 2 great nieces.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales, with funeral services on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11:00 am at the same location.
