FEDHAVEN--Merrill E. Davis, 89, of Fedhaven passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born November 17, 1918 in Taunton, MA; he moved to New Port Richie in 1972 from Nashua, NH; and came to Fedhaven in 1986. He was a retired butcher for Swift Corp. and of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Davis liked to collect the "California Raisins" characters; and enjoyed working on bicycles, puzzles, fishing, and hunting.

Merrill was preceded by his wife, Irene Davis in 2002; sons, Merrill W. Davis and Kenneth Davis; and parents, Arthur & Gladys Davis. Survivors include his daughter in law, Donna Davis of Winchester, VA; brother, Russell Davis of Taunton, MA; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM, Monday, December 10, 2007 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Donations may be made to the American Red Cross of Polk County, 147 Avenue A NW, Winter Haven, Florida 33880.
