WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Max J. Leonard Sr. of Winter Haven died of heart failure Friday (April 14, 2006) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 77.

Born in Norfolk, Neb., on March 24, 1929, he came to Winter Haven from Lansing, Mich., 25 years ago. He retired from real estate sales. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and he served in the Merchant Marine. He was a member of the American Legion in Winter Haven. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mr. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Anita M. Leonard. He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Aleksynas, Jenison, Mich., Rebecca Wright, Corona, Calif.; son, Max J. Leonard, Grandville, Mich.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held in Michigan.
