HOLLAND, Mich. -- Mr. Max V. "Lefty" Hamacher of Holland, Mich., a winter resident of Lake Wales, died of heart failure Monday (March 20, 2006) at home. He was 79.

Born in Kalkaska, Mich., on Feb. 15, 1927, he became a winter resident of Lake Wales 16 years ago, coming from Holland. He was a cutter grinder for General Motors Corp. in Wyoming, Mich. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He attended the Alturas United Methodist Church.

Mr. Hamacher is survived by his wife, Ruth Hamacher; daughters, Cathy Crane, Moran, Mich., and Kim Harring, Holland; four grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

Services will be held in Michigan.
