Mattie Jane Green, 76

Mattie Jane Green of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Winter Haven Hospital.

She was born October 7, 1944 in Hazlehurst, Georgia to the late M.C. and Louise Hughes; she moved to Florida from Georgia as a baby and has been here her whole life. Mattie was homemaker and attended Golfview Church of God. She was a very godly women and loved her family. She made peanut brittle for the church for many years and was involved in the children’s church.

Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Green in 1998; and brothers, Billy Hughes, and Roy Hughes. She is survived by her daughter, Janie Jenkins (Fred) of Lake Wales; sons, Timothy Green of Lake Wales, and James Green of Lakeland; sisters, Shirley Cooprider, Vernell Fleming, Debra Sheffield, and Kathy Senterfit; grandchildren, Robbie, Breanna, Seth, Nathaniel, Tommy, and Brandon; and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Golfview Church of God with Rev. Tony Faulkner and Rev. Denny Cothern officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.
