Matthew Paul Motis

Matthew P. “Matt” Motis,55 of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center due to respiratory failure.

He was born July 23, 1958 in Friend, Nebraska and came to the area from Nebraska 25 years ago. He was a plant manager for Chemical Containers and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and was a member of the Ducks Unlimited Lake Wales Chapter and the Sons of American Legion.

Survivors include wife, Rhonda K. Motis; daughters, Christa Motis VanEkelenburg of Auburndale, Jamie Harvey of Mankato, KS, Kayla Motis of Winter Haven and Samantha Motis of Lake Wales; son, Chris Harvey of Lake Wales; parents, Edmund “Eddie” & Ruth Motis of Lake Wales; brothers, Michael Motis and wife, Regina of Babson Park, John Motis and wife, Laura of Babson Park and David Motis and wife, Jeanette of Babson Park; and two grandchildren, Tristan and Dax.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with Father Thomas C. Seitz, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Duck Unlimited Lake Wales Chapter (Post Office Box 4086, Lake Wales, Florida 33859-4086).
