LAKE WALES -- Mrs. Mary Alice Wood of Lake Wales died of heart failure Thursday (Feb. 9, 2006) at The Groves Center. She was 89.

Born in Chicago on June 18, 1916, she came to Lake Wales from South Haven, Mich., in 1972. She was a homemaker. She and her husband formerly owned a blueberry and apple farm in Michigan. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Lucius Willard Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Jane Schultz, South Haven, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
