Mary Adeline Pilgrim, a devoted and cherished member of the First Presbyterian Church of Haines City, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida. Born on May 2, 1917, in Overland, North Dakota, Mary lived a life marked by dedication, creativity, and community spirit.
Throughout her many years, Mary touched countless lives through her steadfast commitment as a longtime Cub Scout leader, inspiring and guiding young minds with patience and kindness. Her involvement extended beyond scouting, as she took an active role in the First Wednesday gatherings at the First Presbyterian Church, where her faith and fellowship were pillars of strength to those around her.
Mary’s talents were abundant and deeply personal. She found great joy in crocheting, knitting, and sewing — notably crafting her daughter’s wedding dress, a testament to her meticulous skill and love. Her passion for woodworking and creating beautiful items to sell at local fairs reflected her creative spirit and entrepreneurial heart.
She is survived by her loving children: Dianne Digilio and husband John of Bay Shore, New York; Don Pilgrim of Winter Haven, Florida; and Allan Pilgrim of Long Beach, California. These children and their extended families carry forward Mary’s legacy of warmth and generosity.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Owen Pilgrim, who passed in 2012; her daughter Elizabeth Tucker; her son Gerry Pilgrim; her father J. Frank Whisherd; her mother Edith Foster; her grandchild Kevin Pilgrim; and her brothers and sisters.
Mary Adeline Pilgrim’s life was one of heartfelt devotion—to her family, her faith, and her community. She will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her crafty hands that brought joy and beauty to many, and her gentle heart that touched all who knew her. Her memory remains a guiding light to her family and friends, inspiring continued love and kindness in the world she so gracefully enriched.
