Mary Louise Gibson of Winter Haven, Florida a mother, wife, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home April 10, 2023 of natural causes. She was born Mary Louise Bean in Washington D.C. on July 23, 1931 to Alvin B. Bean Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bean. She was raised in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington D.C. and graduated from Anacostia High School. During her high school years and following her graduation, she entered the workforce with Twentieth Century Fox, and then moved on to the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Washington D.C. She was married to Cecil F. Gibson Jr., her husband of 54 years on July 31, 1954, relocated to the Maryland suburbs of The Nation’s Capital   and took on a new role in her life, that of a Homemaker and mother of five children.

Mary was a devoted Mother to her five children and provided an immense amount of love, support, and guidance to them. She and her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in October 1968 and began their journey anew in Florida. During her time in Florida, she re-entered the workforce, becoming a Sr. Customer Service Manager for Continental Cablevision (now Comcast Corporation). In 1981 the family relocated to Lake Wales, Florida. There she began her career with Wales Industries. During her career she rose to the position of Logistics Specialist and was responsible for foreign and domestic product logistics.

After retiring from Wales Industries, she returned to her home, and began a 15-year career of Child-Care, calling on her love for children in assisting client families with the care and development of their infant through pre-school children. She was instrumental in the early childhood development of more than twenty families and the love, care and teaching that Mary gave those children gave them a strong start on life.

Mary is pre-deceased in death by her parents Alvin Bernard Bean Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bean, and her Husband Cecil Francis Gibson Jr. She is survived by her children, Cecil F. Gibson III, (Marilyn), Mark K. Gibson (Gail), Paul T Gibson (Sherri), Susan E Gibson, and Valerie A Hutton, her Brother Alvin B Bean Jr. (Frances), Grandchildren Amy Huber (David) Joseph Gibson (Brandi), Carrie Ellen Gaslin (Adam), Sarah Galen (Christian), Matthew Gibson, Michelle Gibson, Cameron Gibson (Lindsey) Christina Otto (Jesse), Cory Gibson, Kyle Hutton, and Heather Hutton.  She also has 10 Great Grandchildren, Seth Huber, Abagail Huber, Emma Gibson, Kinley Gibson, Sebastian Gaslin, Adelyn Gaslin, Charlotte Galen, Lucille Galen, Judah Otto, Moriah Otto.

The Vigil Service will be held Wednesday April 12, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a prayer Service at 7:00 PM at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home located at 454 South Buck Moore Road, Lake Wales, Florida 33853.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday April 13, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 532 Avenue M NW in Winter Haven, Florida at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida.
